Q4 Creative Intentions: Less of the Same, Please
Goodbye, predictable. Hello, possibilities.
Is it just us, or is everything starting to look a little… the same?
But lately, we've been thinking about the images that make us stop scrolling. The ones that surprise us a little. The ones that feel like something we haven't seen a hundred times before.
And with Q4 officially here, we're in the mood to shake things up.
Not necessarily with bigger budgets, more elaborate productions, or completely reinventing the wheel. Just a few fresh perspectives, unexpected choices, and a little more room for creativity to do its thing.
Here's what's inspiring us this quarter.
01. Let's Not All Use the Same Moodboard
You know the feeling. You find the perfect reference image. Then another. And another. Before you know it, you've got a very beautiful collection of images that look remarkably similar.
Moodboards are wonderful. But sometimes the best thing we can do with a reference is take what we love about it and run in a completely different direction.
Maybe it's the feeling you're after, rather than the exact composition. Or the color palette, but in a totally unexpected setting.
The idea isn't to recreate something great. It's to make something new.
And who knows? Maybe your next shoot will end up on someone else's moodboard.
02. Pretty Is Great. Interesting Is Better
We love pretty things. Obviously.
But there's something especially good about an image that makes you look twice.
A fashion campaign in a wonderfully ordinary kitchen. An unexpected color combination. A perfectly polished product in a space with a little grit and character.
Sometimes it's the contrast that makes the whole thing work.
So this quarter, we're looking for the slightly unexpected. The interesting little details. The creative decisions that might not make perfect sense on paper but look incredible through the lens.
Because beautiful is lovely. But beautiful and interesting? Even better.
03. Let the Location Have a Little Say
We'll admit, we're a little biased on this one.
But some of our favorite creative ideas start with a space.
Maybe it's a wonderfully weird wallpaper. A staircase that deserves its own moment. Or a kitchen in a color you never would've thought to put on the moodboard.
The right location can do more than bring a vision to life. Sometimes, it can make the vision even better.
Of course, there are times when you know exactly what you need. But when the brief leaves a little room to play, don't be afraid to let the space surprise you.
You never know what you might find.
04. Make Room for the Happy Accidents
The best-laid shot lists have their place. (And we love a producer who keeps things running on schedule.)
But sometimes the magic happens in the moments you didn't plan.
The light hits a room differently than expected. Someone spots an interesting angle. A corner you almost overlooked turns out to be everyone's favorite shot of the day.
We're not suggesting you throw the production schedule out the window. Please don't.
Just leave a little room for the unexpected.
Sometimes the best ideas show up when you're busy making other plans.
A Little Less Expected. A Lot More Interesting
As we head into the final stretch of the year, here's to making things that feel fresh, thoughtful, and just a little unexpected.
To looking beyond the obvious, trusting our creative instincts, and remembering that sometimes the most interesting choice isn't the safest one.
We can't wait to see what you create.
Less of the same, please. More of the stuff that makes us look twice.
And if you're looking for a space to spark your next big idea, we've got a few in mind.
